The Birmingham Industrial Development Board (IDB) is a seven-member nonprofit board whose members are required to be Birmingham residents. It has statutory authority under Alabama’s Tax Incentive Reform Act of 1992 to abate certain non-educational property taxes and non-educational construction-related sales and use taxes for qualifying economic development projects.
The board operates independently from the city of Birmingham, and its members are appointed by the Birmingham City Council to staggered six-year terms on an unpaid volunteer basis.

IDB Meetings
The Birmingham IDB Board typically meets on the first and third Tuesdays of the month at 9:00 a.m. at 2117 2nd Ave N, Birmingham, AL 35203. Meetings are held when we have projects being introduced or voted upon, or when we have other items to discuss and/or act upon. If we have no business to conduct in a given week, we typically cancel our meetings. Interested parties should check this website the afternoon before a regularly scheduled meeting to confirm that the meeting has not been canceled.
